Cast and Crew

Joseph Zerull (Writer, Director, Editor): Joseph Zerull graduated from St. Ambrose university with a double major in TV/Radio Communications and Journalism. After graduation, he accepted a job at Silver Oaks Communications and has been working as a photographer/video editor for the past four years. Throughout his career, Joseph has followed his dream of film-making and has successfully made seven digital shorts. Some of which include award winning "Skippy Love Chicago" and "Man Eating Dumpster." He has also participated in the 48 Hour Film Project for the past two years where he has had experience writing, directing and editing on such digital shorts as "Man Eating Dumpster," "Cadaver Christmas," and "Checking Out." He is currently working on turning the digital short Cadaver Christmas into a feature length production with co-producer Daniel Rairdin-Hale.

Daniel Rairdin-Hale (Writer, Producer, The Janitor): Daniel holds a BA in theatre from St. Ambrose University and an MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. He has written and performed in numerous short films including award winning "Skippy Love Chicago" (Best Professional Short—Cedar Rapids Independent Film Festival) and "Man Eating Dumpster" (Best of 48 Hour Film Project—Des Moines). He spent the last four years living and working in Chicago as a professional actor and street performer. His most recent stage credits include "Blind Date" and "The Actor" at The Goodman Theatre, "The Island of Doctor Moreau" at LifeLine Theatre and "Taming of the Shrew" at the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre.
Michael Kennedy (Professor Hildencress): Michael has been featured in various commercial and voiceover spots over the years. He is credited in such films as "America First" from 1970 and his recent film credits include a starring role in the 16mm short film "The Old Man's Road" and supporting roles in "The Bride Wore Blood," and "The Vigilant One."
Hanlon Smith-Dorsey (Writer, Tom): Hanlon holds a BA in Theater from Bard College and an MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University. He has appeared in a number of theatrical productions throughout the Chicagoland area and has been featured in several short films, including work with Presto Video and Rusted Rhino Productions.
Yosh Hayashi (Sam Sheriff): Yosh is from Chugiak, Alaska. He holds a BA in Theatre Arts from The University of Alaska Anchorage as well as an MFA in Acting from The Theatre School at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He has acted, directed, produced, and worked tech in over 40 productions thus far in his theatrical career. His recent Chicago credits include Ranger Tom in Jeff Daniels' Escanaba in da Moonlight (Circle Theatre), The Man With One Story and Others in The Piano Tuner, Montgomery in The Island of Dr. Moreau (Lifeline Theatre) and Arturo Ui in The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui (Steep Theatre). He has also coordinated and adjudicated at The Edward Albee Last Frontier Theatre Conference and is a recognized Actor/Combatant by the SAFD 2006 (Rapier and Dagger, Unarmed, and Knife).
Ben Hopkins (Eddie): Ben Hopkins has been featured in several local television commercials, some regional advertising work and three short films. His theatrical experience includes "Anybody for Murder" at Playcrafters Theater in the Quad Cities and a continuing role as an improvisational performer with ComedySportz – Rock Island; 7 years and counting. He lives in Davenport, IA with his wife of 30 years, Sherry. Ben enjoys live music and spending time with his grandaughter, Tinnley.
Andrew Harvey (The Perp): Andrew, a Galesburg, IL native, attended St. Ambrose University from 2003-2007. He is currently working on his Master of Fine Arts in Acting at Michigan State University. Andrew's interests lie in theatre, foreign languages, European history, and playing bass. Andrew is unlike the Perp in that he prefers to wear clean clothes (among other distinctions). Mr. Harvey would like to thank both Dan and Joe for bringing him aboard this project.
Jessica Denney (Kristen Staple): Jessica Denney is currently finishing her last year at Saint Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Her majors are Radio/TV Production and Journalism with a minor in Theatre. She works at the St. Ambrose television station and anchors the campus news program occasionally. She also performs on the stage at SAU. She has been seen as Rachel Brown in "Inherit the Wind," Featured Dancer and Dance Captain in "Pippin," and played Young Coco and Suzanne in "Crème de Coco," the world premiere play about the life story of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel, directed by Broadway director Phillip Wm. McKinley and written by Bill Luce. Jessica feels very fortunate for her role in "A Cadaver Christmas" and very much enjoyed digesting lots of bloody, chocolaty goodness.
Denise Hollmer: Denise Hollmer graduated with a degree in Mass Communications from Illinois State University where she was active in TV-10 News, Student Television Workshop and the Daily Vidette Newspaper. She began her career in Peoria, Illinois, but soon moved to the Quad Cities where she directed newscasts and commercial production at WHBF-TV. She was recruited by KLJB-TV for its inaugural staff and was part of the Special Projects Team which produced several award-winning documentaries. She also worked on KLJB's late-night comedy sketch show "Live On Tape." Denise now works at Silver Oaks Communications where she continues to produce award-winning videos for organizations such as Easter Seals, United Way, Junior Achievement and others. She's also participated in the 48 Hour Film Project and enjoys teaching Jazzercise in her spare time.
Matthew Heilig (Production Assistant): Matthew Heilig graduated from Marycrest International University with a BA in Graphic Communication and Multimedia. After graduation he took a job at WHBF-TV where he wrote, shot, edited, and produced television commercials and news promotions. After five and a half years at WHBF Matthew accepted a videographer/editor position at Silver Oaks Communications where he met Joseph Zerull and became involved in A Cadaver Christmas.

Matthew's career highlights include several award-winning news promotions for WHBF-TV, freelance work with the Speed Channel and High Five Entertainment shooting conceptual thirty minute television pilot episodes, and the current production of a followup to his own independent video "The Ioway" a thirty minute video showcasing ATV and Motocross tricks set to music.

Greg Marten: One of the original members of Silver Oaks, Mr. Marten has over 30 years of experience in producing, shooting and editing video for broadcast, sales, training and corporate communications. He is the recipient of numerous awards. As manager of our video, audio and 3D animation departments, Mr. Marten oversees all video and audio production from scripting to final edits. In addition to managing, he also serves as Silver Oaks' lead videographer and editor. He earned a degree in TV Production from Black Hawk College.
Adam Orton: Adam Orton is a filmmaker from Chicago who is currently in the process of finishing up his final year at Columbia College for a degree in film. To date, he has written and directed three films with two more on the way. His involvement with 'A Cadaver Christmas' as a sound recorder began in 2007. His favorite memory from 'A Cadaver Christmas' was eating eight brats around a campfire with the cast and crew. His least favorite memory was when Dan woke him up with a clarinet, having only gotten three hours of sleep.
